Dr. Emmanuel Manu
HoD, Population and Behavioural Sciences

You are warmly welcome to the Population and Behavioural Sciences Department at the Fred N. Binka School of Public Health.
The department strives to help the University achieve its mission through the provision of quality education, cutting - edge research and our involvement in community service to improve the health outcomes of Ghanaians. Through the commitment and dedication of faculty members, the health promotion programme, which used to be a less known programme within the public health space, is gradually gaining the needed attention, culminating in increased student enrolment numbers over the past few years. We aim to train skill-oriented public health promotion professionals who can champion health behaviour change at the community level by empowering individuals and communities to increase control over their own health.
Although the department traditionally has two units; Population Studies and Health Promotion Units, weecurrently run the health promotion programme with plans underway to develop a curriculum for our population studies programme. We are also in the process of rolling out Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programmes to service health promotion officers who are already working with the Ghana Health Service and other agencies in the country and beyond.
With our commitment to academic excellence, we encourage prospective students, scholars, researchers, collaborators or visitors to look forward to either studying or working with us in a capacity that would be mutually beneficial. We hope to receive you in the department in any capacity very soon.
