Wisdom Kwami Takramah is a practicing Statistician and a lecturer in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, School of Public Health, University of Health and Allied Sciences. Courses he teaches include Data Analysis and Presentation, Research Methods II & III. He also supervises undergraduate students’ project work.
Education
Wisdom he is currently a doctoral student at the Department of Biostatistics, School of Public Health, University of Ghana. He obtained his HND in Statistics from the Ho Technical University, Ghana; a BSc in Statistics from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana; and MSc Health Informatics from the University of Ghana.
Work experience
He was a Statistician at Research and Development Division (RDD), Ghana Health Service (GHS) from 2009 to 2013 and his main duties included to determine appropriate statistical methods for the correct analysis of data, use existing statistical packages and a variety of established statistical methods to gather, analyze and interpret research data to derive useful information for research studies, among others.
From 2004 to 2005 he worked as a technical officer (Biostatistics) at Nkawie Toase Government Hospital and from 2005 to 2009, at Obuasi Government Hospital in the Ashanti Region, Ghana where he was the Head of Health Information/Biostatistics Unit.
He has excellent knowledge of computer operations in Stata, SPSS, R,WEKA, Tanagra, Minitab, Epi-Info, Epidata, CSPRO, Oracle, MYSQL & PHP, HTML ,DHIMS and MS Office applications.
Science/Research output
He has worked on several research projects in collaboration with international agencies at RDD such as Introduction of New Vaccines into the Routine EPI Services in Ghana, Nutrition and Malaria Control for Child Survival Project (World Bank supported Project), Treatment Accelerated Programme (TAP) on HIV/AIDS (WHO supported project) and Improving Maternal and Child Health (MCH) in Keta Municipality, Ketu North and South Districts in the Volta Region (KOICA Supported project).
He also participated in a research project entitled “A National Program for Strengthening the Implementation of the Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Initiative in Ghana: CHPS+”. This is a five-year project which is jointly being undertaken by the School of Public Health (SPH) of University of Health and Allied Science (UHAS), Ghana Health Service and the Department of Family and Community Medicine of the University for Development Studies (UDS) in conjunction with Columbia University (USA) and the Doris Duke Foundation (USA).
