PROF. FRANCIS B. ZOTOR

professor zotor Professor Francis B. Zotor is a public health nutrition and is a registered public health nutritionist. He is a recognized leader spanning over two decades in nutrition across Africa and has been instrumental in driving and promoting the establishment of a strong nutrition profession on the continent, training and research to underpin programme delivery especially across the health and education sectors in Africa. He serves on a number of national and international boards and societies associated with nutrition..

Education

Professor Francis B. Zotor received his first degree in Biotechnology from the University of Westminster, UK,  and Masters in Biotechnology at the University of Kent, Canterbury, UK and his PhD in Public Health Nutrition from the University of Greenwich, UK. He also holds a PgDip in Higher Education Teaching from the University of Greenwich, UK.

Work Experience

Professor Zotor until relocating in Ghana in 2013 served as a senior lecturer at the University of Greenwich where he taught several courses in nutrition and biotechnology at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. As part of his duties was responsible in overseeing tutor-tutee allocations within his school.

Science/Research Output 

Francis Zotor is a registered public health nutritionist and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, UK. He is a recognized leader in nutrition spanning over two decades of work across Africa. He has been instrumental in driving and promoting the establishment of a strong nutrition profession on the continent, training and research to underpin programme delivery especially across the health and education sectors in Africa.

His areas of research largely revolve around developing and implementing methodologies for nutrition and health related research activities to benefit vulnerable populations across Africa. His research interests cover a global dimension of population and nutritional epidemiology; specifically, the links between poverty, food and nutrition security and non-communicable diseases (NCDs) across the life cycle. He is a food product development specialist and co-originator of the Food Multimix (FMM) concept. The global context of his work has enabled him to work in both developed and developing societies.
