Anthony Zunuo Dongdem is a Lecturer at the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Fred N. Binka chool of Public Health, University of Health and Allied Health Sciences (UHAS).
Education
Anthony Zunuo Dongdem is a doctoral candidate at the University of Ghana, School of Public Health, department of Epidemiology and Disease Control. He holds a Master of Philosophy in Applied Epidemiology & Disease Control and a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences. He is also a Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute’s (CLSI) and African Society for Laboratory Medicine (ASLM) certified assessor of medical laboratories.
Work experience
Anthony as a lecturer, acted as head of department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at UHAS from December 2015 to October 2016. He has been teaching, supervising and mentoring MPhil, BPH students since 2010. He teaches courses in epidemiology, public health surveillance and laboratory management and systems design. He has expertise in curriculum development and was involved in the development of the MPH curriculum for School of Public Health, UHAS. He has also been involved in the training of field officers in Basic Field Epidemiology Programme and Advanced Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Programme at the University of Ghana. He has led in a number of outbreak investigations in the country. Anthony also worked at the National Public Health and Reference Laboratory (NPHRL) from 2003 to 2013 as a biomedical scientist and subsequently as the deputy head of department and was highly involved in managing data in disease surveillance activities. He was in-charge of the measles, yellow fever and bacteriology unit of the department and supported in training biomedical scientists across the country. He has supported many laboratories in their efforts towards achieving accreditation.
Research Interest
He has expertise in epidemiology, microbiology, molecular daignosis and laboratory quality management systems. Anthony research interest is in infectious diseases particularly in diarrhoea diseases, hepatitis infection, malaria, Neglected Tropical Diseases (Yaws, Onchcerciasis, Schistosomiais). He also has interest in Non-communicable diseases e.g cancers.
