Eric Osei is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Pupulation and Behavioural Sciences, University of Health and Allied Sciences. Prior to his present appointment, he was a Senior Technical Officer, Disease Control at the Ghana Health Service where he led several health programmes such as Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS and Neglected Tropical Diseases Control programmes, both at the District and Regional levels.
He teaches courses such as Principles of Disease Control, Epidemiology, Public Health Research and Health Promotion at the undergraduate level. He also supervises and assesses students project work.
Education
Mr Osei is currently pursuing his PhD degree in Clinical Epidemiology at Yonsei University, South Korea. He had both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Public Health at the University of Ghana. Before that, he obtained a Diploma certificate in Community Health at the then Rural Health Training School, now College of Health, Kintampo.
Work Experience
He practices as a Disease Control Officer in the Upper East Region of Ghana for 8 years during which he coordinated disease control programmes such as Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS at the District level and Tuberculosis and Neglected Tropical Diseases at the Regional level.
Science/Research Output
Mr Osei's area of research includes infectious disease epidemiology, with a specific focus on Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, and Neglected Tropical Diseases. He is also interested in maternal and child health research and health programme evaluation and currently has 13 scientific publications indexed in high impact journals. He also reviews for several scientific journals across the globe.
