Dr Prince Owusu Adoma is a lecturer in the Department of Population and Behavioural Sciences in the School of Public Health, University of Health and Allied Sciences. Prior to joining UHAS, he lectured in several nursing and community health training institutions under the Ministry of Health, Ghana.
Education
Prince Owusu Adoma received his PhD in Health Promotion (Community Health Promotion) and Bachelor of Law degrees from the University of Cape Coast (UCC) in 2019. He also obtained an MPhil. degree in Population and Health (2012) and a Bachelor of Arts Population and Family Life (2008) degree from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.
Work Experience
Prior to his appointment as a lecturer in UHAS, he was a Principal Health Tutor at the Community Health Nurses’ Training College, Tanaoso and a Part-Time Lecturer at Catholic University College of Ghana, Fiapre (CUCG) from 2014 to 2019. He taught undergraduate courses in adolescent health, sexual and reproductive health courses on the BSc Public Health programme and contributed to the MPH programme. He also worked as a private research consultant at Inspired Technology Consult since 2014 and as CEO of Decisive Business SolutAion which deals in medical logistics supplies.
Science/Research output and Research Interest
He has served as a research coordinator at Nurses’ Training College and has presented a scientific papers at both local and international conferences and seminars. He has peer-reviewed journal articles which are focused on prevalence of chronic diseases in Ghana and ageing and formal support systems in Ghana.
Prince’s research interests include disease prevention and control, healthy ageing and development, adolescent sexual and reproductive health as well as medico-legal issues. He has research experience in the area of non-communicable disease prevention and management, ageing and formal support systems.
