DR. ISAIAH A. AGORINYA

Isaiah Awintuen Agorinya is an Epidemiologist/Statistician and teaches in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, School of Public Health, University of Health and Allied Sciences at Hohoe. He currently teaches undergraduate courses and contributes to post-graduate studies. His undergraduate level courses include Health Management Information Systems and Emergency preparedness and outbreak investigations. At the postgraduate level, he contributes to Advanced biostatistics and Statistical methods. He also supervises students’ project work..

Education

Isaiah studied Mathematical Science (Statistics Option) (BSc) at the University for Development Studies, (UDS), Ghana, obtained Master’s degree (MSc) in Biometry from the same University and holds a PhD in Epidemiology from the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute, University of Basel, Switzerland..

Work Experience

He worked as a senior research officer responsible for data Management, data analysis and project coordination at the Navrongo Health Research Centre. He was Lead in developing and managing data in electronic data capture platforms (Computer Assisted Personal Interviews, CAPI). Isaiah has been successful in coordinating and managing data from a number of large projects undertaken by the Navrongo Health Research Centre. These projects include: The INESS data linkage module, Meningitis Vaccine Project (MVP), QUALMAT (Quality Maternal Health) Project, Malaria reservoir study (MRS), The UNICEF LQAS study, Awi-Gen study (H3Africa), Artesunate Extension Studies, EDCTP study, the GEHIP intervention study, the Indepth-Network Household out-of-pocket study among many other research projects.

Science/Research Output

He has interests in Maternal and Child Health studies, Electronic data capture systems, Health systems research in the area of out-of-pocket health spending, household survey designs, Health Care Financing services management, Statistical analysis.
