DR. FAITH AGBOZO

faith aku agbozoDr. Faith Agbozo is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Family and Community Health at the Fred N. Binka School of Public Health of the University of Health and Allied Sciences.

Education

Dr Faith Agbozo, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Family and Community Health at the Fred N. Binka School of Public Health, holds a PhD in Public Health with distinction (Dr Sc Hum thesis graded summa cum laude) from the Heidelberg University Medical Faculty in Germany with specializations in Maternal/Child Health and Epidemiology. She has an MPhil in Nutrition; a BSc in Family and Consumer Science and a Diploma in Nursing all from the University of Ghana as well as a Professional Diploma in Nursing from the Korle-Bu Nursing Training College. She has postgraduate qualifications in Epidemiology (School of Public Health, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and the Institute of Epidemiology and Medical Biometry, Ulm University, Germany); and ‘Teaching at the University Level’ (Center for Higher Education, Heidelberg University).

Areas of Expertise 

Dr Faith Agbozo is a Registered Nurse, a Certified Public Health Nutritionist and a Lactational Consultant. Before joining the University in 2013, she worked with the Ghana Health Service for almost a decade providing clinical and community care. Her research interest cuts across primary healthcare systems strengthening and implementation research that incorporates both quantitative and qualitative methodologies in the domains of reproductive epidemiology (safe motherhood, newborn care, postpartum support); non-communicable diseases in pregnancy (hyperglycemic, hypertensive, cardiovascular and metabolic disorders); nutritional epidemiology (maternal nutrition, infant and young child feeding including under challenging situations); health states and gut microbiome; and climate change and health. 

Ongoing Projects and Main Collaborators 

• Climate change adaptations and coping strategies of rural fisherfolks and the nexus with livelihoods, food security and health - Heidelberg University Institute of Global Health, Research Group on Climate Change, Nutrition and Health, Germany.

• Nutrition, health, and developmental registry of school children from early childhood to adolescence: a longitudinal school-based cohort – McGill University, School of Population and Global Health, Canada.

• Post-delivery surveillance and health system support services for women diagnosed with gestational diabetes - Heidelberg University, Institute of Global Health, Research Group on Global Health Policies and Systems, Germany.

• Continuum of care for preterm and low birth weight infants - ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences, Institute of Nursing, and the University of Geneva, Switzerland.

• Fellow: Towards Leadership Programme by the Africa Research Excellence funded by the UK Medical Research Council.

• Postdoctoral Grant on Climate Research for Alumni and Postdocs in Africa (climapAfrica), 2022 awarded by the Federal German Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) through DAAD (Read more....)
