Mark Akantigse Aviisah is an Assistant Research Fellow, with the Department of Health Policy, Planning, and Management, School of Public Health of the University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ghana. He joined the University in December, 2014.
Education
Mark Akantigse Aviisah obtained an MSc. in Community Health and Development from the University for Development Studies, Ghana. He previously obtained a BSc. in Community Nutrion from same University. He also obtained an MSc. in Global Ageing and Policy (DL) from the University of Southampton, UK. He is currently a Doctoral Candidate at the Population Research Center, University of Groningen, The Netherlands.
Work Experience
Between 2009–2014, he worked as a public health and development specialist with World Vision Ghana. During his working period with World Vision Ghana, he supported to design, implement and evaluate health, nutrition, and Water Sanitation and Hygeine (WASH) interventions across several Districts in Northern Ghana. He was appointed into the University in 2014 and has played active roles in teaching, research and community service at the School of Public Health. He was in responsible for cordianting Public Health Seminars in the School of Public Health from 2016-2019 and provided a lot of research support, mentorship and guidance for undergraduate students within this period.
Science/Research output
Mr Aviisah’s current research interest includes determinants of health in ageing, healthy ageing, the influence of migration on the well-being of older people, population ageing and policy in SSA.
