SETH YAO AHIABOR

seth ahiabor

Seth Yao Ahiabor is a Lecturer in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, School of Public Health, University of Health and Allied Sciences, Hohoe campus. in the Volta Region. He is an Environmental Health Officer by profession.


Education
He had his Diploma in Public Health Inspection from School of Hygiene, Accra, Ghana in 1993. He holds a second Diploma in Health Sciences Education (2000) and a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree (2005) in Health Sciences from the University of Cape-Coast. He also holds a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree in Environmental Science (2012) from the University of Ghana, Legon.

 

Work experience
He practised as an Environmental Health Officer on secondment to DANIDA-funded Community Water Supply and Sanitation Department (CWSD) for four (4) years and later as a Health Tutor for fourteen (14) years where he taught a number of courses including Pest and Vector Control and Public Health Entomology, Helminthology and Research Techniques among others. Currently, Mr Ahiabor is a lecturer in the School of Public Health, University of Health and Allied Sciences, Hohoe campus. He also heads the Environmental Health Unit within the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics.

Science / Research output
Mr. Ahiabor’s area of research is in Environmental Health and Sanitation with special emphasis on: Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Practices in Schools and communities: Water Resources Management and climate change adaptation especially in Rural Areas: Waste Management Practices (Solid and Liquid): and Food Hygiene Practices. He has nine (9) publications in peer-review journals to his credit. He is currently finalizing preparations to enrol onto a PhD. Programme.
