Dr. Sitsofe Gbogbo is a Research Fellow in the Department of Population and Behavioural Sciences at the Fred N. Binka School of Public Health of the University of Health and Allied Sciences.
Education
As a DAAD Doctoral Scholar, Dr Gbogbo obtained her PhD in Educational Science from the Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz, Germany. Dr Gbogbo completed a Master of Public Health (MPH) from University of Edinburgh, UK as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar. She obtained her Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Public and Community Health degree from De Montfort University, UK and a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Statistics from Ho Polytechnic, Ghana.
Work Experience
Before joining the University of Health and Allied Sciences, she was a Senior Research Officer at the Dodowa Health Research Centre. She also worked as a Health Care Support Worker with the National Health Service (NHS), UK.
Science/Research output
Dr. Sitsofe Gbogbo is a qualitative methods researcher. Her research interests are in global adolescent and women’s health with focus on sexual and reproductive health, teenage pregnancy and menstrual health. She teaches, SCPH 395: Foundations of Health Promotion, SCPH394: Behavior Change Communication and SCPH479: School Based Nutrition Education. Dr. Sitsofe Gbogbo is a post-Doctoral fellow on the Rickett Global Hygiene Institute working on Exploring the relationship between Menstrual Hygiene Management and Depression. She was also an awardee of the Royal Society for Tropical Medicine and Hygiene Early Career Grant Programme and worked on a project that seeks to explore the understanding of the social representations of onchocerciasis constructed by adolescents with the disease, including their perception of the impact of the disease on their daily lives.
